The 99% Invisible City, Roman Mars

I illustrated The 99% Invisible City, the New York Times bestselling book by Roman Mars and Kurt Kohlstedt, expanding the world of the acclaimed 99% Invisible podcast into a visual exploration of the hidden systems that shape our urban lives. The drawings translate overlooked details — from infrastructure and signage to subtle architectural moments into intricate visual stories, revealing the quiet choreography behind the everyday city. Through dense, observational linework, the project invites readers to slow down, look closer, and rediscover the layers of design and human intention embedded within the built environment. It was brilliant to also work with designer Raphael Geroni on this project.
