Ian Happ Chicago Cubs
I initially collaborated with Chicago Cubs outfielder and Gold Glove winner Ian Happ on a series of three drawings created from his point of view during games, translating fleeting moments on the field into intricate, hand-drawn observations. Shaped by Ian’s deep passion for the club and the living history of the iconic Wrigley Field, the project explored the shifting perspectives, quiet pauses, and charged energy that define the experience of baseball from within. What began as a focused commission gradually expanded into a wider body of work and exhibition, as my research into the Cubs’ enduring relationship with the city of Chicago revealed a deeper story — one where architecture, memory, and civic identity intertwine, and where the ballpark becomes both stage and symbol within the urban landscape.
The project received international coverage, including features by the Associated Press, Forbes, and WTTW Chicago (PBS)
