5 Penn Plaza, NYC
This was a fun commission from the team at 5 Penn Plaza to create artwork for an internal window within the building. The window looks through to the gym, so the design balances privacy with permeability, using layered transparencies that allow light to pass while softening the view beyond. The drawing centres on 5 Pennsylvania Plaza and its surrounding streets, weaving together local architecture with familiar New York landmarks. Originally completed in 1916 as the Printing Crafts Building- conceived as the nation’s largest printing and publishing hub and home to publishers, advertising agencies, and binderies. The piece quietly nods to the building’s rich history while reflecting the evolving energy of the Penn Station district today.
