One day walk, London

I collaborated with my friend and fellow artist Paul Davis to create a mural inside a room at the Andaz Hyatt, Liverpool Street, London. We began by walking through the East End together — observing, listening, and speaking with people we encountered along the way — while sharing historical stories and personal impressions of the neighbourhood.

These experiences were translated directly onto the wall as an organic, layered map of sorts: a visual record of our day that also functions as an informal guide to the surrounding area. The drawing weaves together observation, memory, and local history, inviting viewers to explore the city through our shared perspective.

The hotel itself stands on the historic site of the infamous Bethlem Hospital (“Bedlam”), once home to patients suffering from mental illness. We imagined one such patient drawing on the walls as a way to pass time and express themselves, allowing this idea to subtly inform the spirit and spontaneity of the mural.
